This Data Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into by and between Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, hereinafter referred to as the "Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, Makerere University" or "Institution," and the registered users, hereinafter referred to as "Scholars," of the E-Portfolio Portal, collectively referred to as "Parties."
Background:
The E-Portfolio Portal is an online platform designed to assist Scholars in creating profiles and resumes for the purpose of enhancing their career prospects. This Agreement governs the collection, use, and protection of Scholars' data on the portal.
Data Collection and Usage:
1. **Personal Information:** The portal may collect and store personal information provided by Scholars, including but not limited to names, contact information, academic history, professional experience, skills, and other relevant data.
2. **Academic Records:** The portal may access and use academic records from the University's database to assist Scholars in creating accurate academic profiles.
3. **Resume Data:** Scholars' data may be used to generate resumes and other documents for career-related activities.
4. **Communication:** The University may use contact information provided by Scholars to communicate with them regarding career opportunities, University news, and portal updates.
Data Protection and Security:
1. The University is committed to maintaining the privacy and security of Scholars' data. Measures will be taken to protect data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
2. Scholars are responsible for maintaining the security of their login credentials. They should not share their login information with others.
3. The University may use encryption and secure authentication methods to protect data transmission.
Data Sharing:
1. Scholars' data will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent unless required by law.
2. Aggregate, non-identifiable data may be shared with potential employers or other entities for statistical and research purposes.
Data Retention:
1. Scholars' data will be retained for as long as they maintain an active account on the portal.
2. Upon Scholars' request or the termination of their account, the University will retain data for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations, but it will not be actively used.
Scholars' Rights:
1. Scholars have the right to access, correct, or delete their data on the portal.
2. Scholars may withdraw their consent at any time, which will result in the termination of their account.
Changes to Agreement:
The University reserves the right to update this Agreement. Scholars will be notified of any changes, and their continued use of the portal will imply acceptance of the revised terms.
Governing Law:
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Jurisdiction].
Entire Agreement:
This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the Parties and supersedes all prior agreements.
By using the E-Portfolio Portal, Scholars acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Data Agreement.
